September 25 is National Research Administrator Day, a day to recognize the many contributions of research administrators. Often, the work of research administrators goes unnoticed, but they are an essential component of the research workforce.

SCTR’s vision is to improve health outcomes and quality of life for South Carolinians by translating scientific discoveries into evidence-based clinical practice. Our efforts focus on the development of innovative ways to turn observations from the laboratory, clinic, and community into interventions that improve individual and public health. Research administrators are key to the successful completion of many research activities and are heavily involved in the research-related processes we develop, the expertise we disseminate, and the resources we share.

In serving researchers and study teams, research administrators provide a level of protection and support necessary for positive research outcomes. Research administrators are involved throughout a research project’s lifecycle, offering best practice standards, and streamlining processes to keep researchers focused on their research and clinical practice.

Administrators fill a variety of roles spanning application to closeout processes. We rely on their expertise to ensure compliance, solve problems, manage awarded funds, and enable outcomes that impact public health.

For all the research administrators you may connect with daily, take a moment to say thank you for all they do. If you are a research administrator, we want you to know we appreciate your efforts and are grateful for all you contribute to clinical and translational research.
