Grants Administration Training

Presented by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), Grants Administration 101 provides an overview of the basics of research administration and the internal procedures required for proposal processing within the University.

Internal Processing Form (IPF) Training

If you submit award proposals through Cayuse Research Suite, this sessions provides an in-depth look at the IPF.

Open Forums

Hosted by the Office of the Vice President for Research (ORSP), Open Forums are hosted in the summer and consist of presentations from research support offices and departments across campus who provide important updates in specific areas that affect the research community, including as procurement, lab safety, information security, and compliance. These events are one-hour and takes place both in-person (Charleston campus) and online. Participants will have the chance to submit questions during registration as well as participate in a Q+A during the events.

SCTR Workforce Development

SCTR’s Workforce Development program serves to create, centralize, and disseminate educational opportunities across the spectrum of clinical and translational research team members, including staff, students, trainees, faculty, and community partners. Together with research offices and colleges at MUSC, SCTR encourages career development through predoctoral and mentored training programs, educational courses, innovative learning opportunities, and informative workshops to support those who currently work in research and to grow South Carolina’s Clinical and Translational Research workforce.

Town Hall

Presented by the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), Town Halls happen periodically throughout the year and gives a general update of happenings across the research enterprise, including policy updates, upcoming events and trainings, and research wins. This event is one-hour and takes place both in-person (Charleston campus) and online. Participants will have the chance to submit questions during registration as well as participate in a Q+A during the events.

Training Required for Certain Research Activities
Training Required Before Engaging in Human Subjects Research

  • the direct recipient of federal funds, even if all research activities occur elsewhere?
  • obtaining informed consent, even if research procedures are not done at MUSC?
  • administering study interventions?
  • interacting with study subjects for research purposes?
  • obtaining identifiable data, specimens, or images for research purposes? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions you are engaged in human subject research and will need to complete a series of trainings before engaging in any research activities.
