SPARCRequest

SPARCRequest (Services, Pricing, & Application for Research Centers) is a web-based research management system that provides a central portal to researchers and their study teams to browse for research services and resources as well as submit service and pricing requests with a focus on billing compliance and proposal/budget development. This software is open to MUSC affiliates and CTSA institutions to adopt and capitalize on efficiencies.

SPARCRequest is Open Source

Our SPARC software is publically available through an open source repository (BSD3 License), allowing institutions throughout the nation to utilize this web-based research transaction management system. We are delighted to have a growing list of institutional partners that will be participating in our open source community. SPARCRequest Testimonials

University of California - San Francisco Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute

“SPARC works seamlessly to generate budgets for research study services, and has such a fantastic interface that we are looking into implementing it in several departments across campus. The SPARC system is a great complement to our enterprise study management software.”

Angela Rizk-Jackson, Ph.D.
UCSF CTSI

Louisiana Clinical & Translational Science Center

"The Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center has embraced SPARC for its capacity to connect resources across eight different university and Health care institutions. The ability for our investigators to use SPARC and remotely access resources offered through our member institutions, which are located hundreds of miles apart, is imperative for our multi-institutional clinical & translational science research initiative. SPARC allows us to offer services in a very concise and efficient manner."
Brian Melancon
LaCATS
Baton Rouge, LA
CTSI - Children's National

“To be more efficient and competitive in the current clinical research environment it is necessary to have adequate tools to make the research process, from application to implementation, more seamless. SPARC provides a unique set of functions for both investigators and core administrators that will help streamline this process at our institution while allowing the tracking of activities and resource utilization all in one place."

MUSC

“SPARC has become a very useful tool in my budget preparation for Hollings CTO. It provides a schedule of events for my supporting cores as well as a budget for me. It helps putting the study calendar in a spreadsheet that handles everything from processing costs to nursing costs. Once you learn the process, it becomes a valuable tool for getting needed support and subsidies and connects you to other cores on campus.

Debbie S. O’Rear, RN, BSN, CCRP
Hollings Cancer Center
MUSC

"I used SPARC to price out services for a grant proposal. It was a quick process, and was MUCH easier than the old method of calling to various departments to get price quotes. Thank you for making this service possible."

Dr. Jim Oates
Associate Director
Division of Rheumatology
MUSC

“It’s a great tool when putting a budget together. It’s nice to just go to one website and be able to put a budget together as well as requesting those procedures at the same time. Having the explanations under each of the procedures makes it very helpful for people that do not have a medical background that need to put a budget together for clinical trials.”

Alyssa Ziobrowski
Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy & Sleep Medicine
MUSC

“When I was on SPARC Request looking for services for our research study I felt like I was online shopping, almost as if I was on Amazon.com. All the services were easy to find and I was grateful that it did not take much time out of my day since I was quite busy that day working between the office and clinic.”
