Clinical Research

The Office of Clinical Research partners with clinical investigators and study teams to complete thorough research budgeting and coverage analysis in compliance with federal regulations to ensure insurance or sponsor coverage of billable items and services and to ensure that all MUSC Health charges associated with research are billed to the appropriate funding source and with the required codes and modifiers. The OCR supports clinical investigators by developing strategic partnerships with research sponsors to identify and disseminate new clinical research opportunities, supporting feasibility and site selection processes, employing efficient study activation and conduct processes, and utilizing metric tracking and continuous quality improvement to improve these processes.

Grants and Contracts Accounting

As a unit of the Division of Finance and Administration, Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA) is responsible for post-award administration of sponsored grants and contracts awarded to the University. CGA's main responsibility is sponsored financial reporting, invoicing, administration and cash management. 

Foundation for Research Development

The Foundation for Research Development (FRD), MUSC’s affiliated not-for-profit research foundation, interfaces with industry in the areas of technology transfer and industry-sponsored research. By collaborating with industry, cutting-edge discoveries have the opportunity to become real-life solutions to today’s medical problems.

Research Development

The Office of Research Development (ORD) provides support for the needs of faculty. ORD identifies extramural funding opportunities and assists faculty members in preparing competitive proposals, with an emphasis on strategic research areas prioritized by the colleges and university administration as well as institutional research resources and infrastructure.

Research & Sponsored Programs

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) assists faculty and staff with the administrative processes involved with obtaining and conducting extramurally funded programs.  ORSP reviews and approves grant and contract proposal submissions, reviews, negotiates and officially accepts all sponsored program agreements/awards and provides post-award support services and guidance with the goal of maintaining regulatory, institutional and sponsor compliance.  ORSP serves as the official point of contact for sponsored programs, and is the authorized signatory for all sponsored project activities at MUSC.

Research Integrity

The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) provides oversight of research involving humans, animals and biohazards, to safeguard and ensure compliance with all federal, state and institutional rules and regulations.

SCTR Institute SUCCESS Center

The SUCCESS Center (Support Center for Clinical & Translational Science) is the consolidated entry point for South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research (SCTR) Institute

University Compliance Office

The University Compliance Office provides a proactive program that ensures full compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations. The Compliance Officer’s responsibilities include development, implementation and management of a program of action designed to promote ethical behavior in accordance with MUSC’s core values as expressed in the Mission Statement and Code of Conduct. This program will endeavor to protect the reputations of faculty and staff at MUSC and the reputation of the institution for integrity and ethics.

Division of Laboratory Animal Resources

The Division of Laboratory Animal Resources centrally manages the University’s animal care program. The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee is responsible for review of all proposals using lab animals at the university as well as oversight of the programs and policies associated with animal use.
