Digestive Diseases

The Digestive Disease Center (DDC) brings together gastroenterologists, surgeons, and radiologists who have special interests in dealing with various digestive problems. It is our vision to be the nationally recognized leader in multispecialty patient care, research, and education in digestive disorders.

Research that’s making a real difference.

The mission of the MUSC Digestive Disease Research Core Center (DDRCC) is to strengthen research infrastructure and expand capacity for collaborative, high-impact research in digestive and liver diseases. The Center supports 64 members – 37 full and 27 associate – while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and junior faculty development. With a stable research base of $32.7 million, including $16 million in federal funding, the DDRCC focuses on the continuum of organ injury, inflammation, and fibrosis across a wide range of digestive organs. As one of 17 nationally funded Digestive Disease Research Centers, the MUSC DDRCC provides shared resources and fosters collaboration to advance both basic and clinical research.
