When Is the Next Application Cycle?
Applications for the Fall 2017 PEERS Specific Aims workshop are due on October 11, 2017. Applicants will be asked to upload an NIH-formatted biosketch and working proposal abstract with their application form.
Eligible individuals will be notified, no later than 12 p.m. on October 12, 2017, to send email confirmation of workshop mentor participation (an email template for this will be provided). Confirmation of mentor participation will be due by 12 p.m. on October 13, 2017. Notification of formal acceptance will be generated after receipt of mentor confirmation, but no later than 5 p.m. on October 13, 2017.
The Fall 2017 PEERS Specific Aims Workshop is scheduled to occur between the dates of October 24, 2017 and December 5, 2017. A linked informational session will be held on October 10, 2017 (“Nail Those Aims.” NIH Specific Aims Best Writing Practices). Participation in the informational session is encouraged, but not required for participation in PEERS.

How Are Applications Reviewed?
Representatives from the Office of Research Development will review applications for eligibility, completion, date of intended proposal submission, and development of proposal concept. Formal acceptance will be contingent upon email confirmation from a workshop mentor.
Estimated Time for Participation
For the Fall 2017 PEERS Workshop: Specific Aims, the total time devoted to in-person group sessions and one-on-one meetings will be 6 hours over a 9-week period. This includes participation in the informational session “Nail Those Aims!” – NIH Specific Aims Best Writing Practices. Additional time for writing and revision of working Specific Aims should be anticipated, but will vary for each individual.
Follow Up ORD Support
Individuals who attend the entirety of the PEERS workshop (the 2 group sessions) and all complete assignments will have the opportunity for monthly proposal feedback from the office on a chosen grant document. Further details on this will be shared upon acceptance to the workshop.
