MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center recently welcomed Dr. Angen Liu as Director of the Tissue Biorepository. Dr. Liu came to MUSC from the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he managed the Laser Capture Microdissection Facility within the FCCC Histopathology Facility. Angen obtained his MD from Anhui Medical College, China and his PhD from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan. He received training in pathology from Shanghai Textile Second Hospital, China, as well as postgraduate training in pathology at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine. Angen then did postdoctoral research as a fellow in the Genetic and Biochemistry Branch, NIDDK in Bethesda. Dr. Angen is a highly skilled Research Pathologist with considerable expertise in laser capture microdissection and associated techniques. He plans to improve existing services and develop a number of new offerings. He will provide an overview of Tissue Biorepository services at the HCC Annual Retreat on November 20, 2009 at the Omar Shrine Convention Center, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
