NIAID offers tips and tutorials for small business grant opportunities

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases offers tutorials and other resources to facilitate success with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) proposals.

To get started, check out NIAID’s narrated Advice Presentations for SBIR and STTR. The tutorials have been recently updated with more information and guidance to help you get a small business award. Included are:

  • Application tips and tricks.
  • Small business funds for academic investigators.
  • FY 2008 data, including award rates for initial and revised applications, success rates of fast-track applications, and average phase I awards by IC.

In addition to these presentations, NIAID posts other helpful resources on its Small Business Awards portal. The current Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Contract Solicitation (PHS 2010-1) is open until November 9, 2009.  NIAID’s priority topic areas are:

  • Aminoglycosides: formulation for oral delivery.
  • High throughput in vitro immunization system for evaluating human B-cell immune responses to HIV-1 vaccine antigens.
  • In vitro immunization system for evaluating human T-cell immune responses to HIV-1 vaccine antigens.

For further details, read the solicitation and the Instructions.
