MUSC Receives Two Pfizer Visiting Professor Awards For 2010

For the second consecutive year, MUSC faculty leaders have successfully competed and won two prestigious Pfizer Visiting Professorships. The 2009 awards are in Infectious Diseases and Oncology, sponsored respectively by Dr. Michael Kilby, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine, and by Dr. Andrew Kraft, Director of the Hollings Cancer Center.

The 2008 Pfizer Visiting Professorships awarded to MUSC were in Rheumatology and Cardiovascular Preventive Medicine.  Dr. Rosalind Ramsey-Goldman, Professor of Medicine at Northwestern Medical School in Chicago, sponsored by Dr. Richard Silver, Director of the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, visited MUSC for several days in mid-March. Dr. Marc DeLeval’s visit, sponsored by Drs. Phil Saul, Director of Pediatric Cardiology, and T-Y Hsia, Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, was delayed and will be rescheduled in the near future.

The Pfizer Medical & Academic Partnerships Program currently offers VIsiting Professorships in 12 fieldsMUSC is grateful to Pfizer for sponsoring these important opportunities for research advancement and collaboration, and honored to host two distinguished visitors in the coming year with support from these prestigious awards.
