The offering is co-hosted by UAB’s Section on Statistical Genetics and Division of Rheumatology, and is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) The course is designed to help investigators studying the genetics of human complex traits to better understand and use statistical genetics methods, and thereby further their ability to meet their scientific objectives. It is aimed at established investigators, postdoctoral fellows, and advanced graduate students. The course takes two full days, and offers a vigorous interactive educational program designed to enhance researcher's ability to implement and, importantly, interpret the results of sophisticated statistical analysis in human genetic research. A full agenda may be found on the course website at http://www.soph.uab.edu/ssg_content.asp?id=1546. Confirmed speakers include: David B. Allison Ph.D., Robert Kimberly MD, Grier P. Page Ph.D. (former MUSC faculty member), & Hemant K.
