NIH appoints two new directors Andrew
C. von Eschenbach, MD, has been selected to head the National Cancer Institute
at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. von Eschenbach is the director
of both the Genitourinary Cancer Center and the Prostate Cancer Research
Program at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Glen R. Hanson, DDS, PhD, has been named acting director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Dr. Hanson, an expert in psychostimulants, joined the NIDA in September of 2000 as the director of the Division of Neuroscience and Behavioral Research.
