SCTR Application Submitted to NIH

The SCTR writing team, led by Dr. Kathleen Brady, officially submitted MUSC's application for a Clinical & Translational Science Award to the National Center for Research Resources (NIH) on October 21, 2008.  The application represents a truly campus-wide effort involving the work of approximately 250 individuals.  Through the proposed CTSA, SCTR will continue to enhance research support services, provide pilot projects, develop a strong biomedical informatics environment for research, and engage the community.  The application will be reviewed in February 2009 with an anticipated start date of July 2009.

SCTR SUCCESS Center is off to a great start!

The SUCCESS Center: Research Support Services opened in July and has proved to be a great complement to existing services on campus.  SUCCESS offers researchers free training and support in the following areas: navigating the research process, assisting with regulatory documents, developing and analyzing budgets, planning for participant recruitment, and linking to existing services.  If you would like to schedule an appointment or acquire for more information, please call us at 792-8300.

New Recruitment Opportunity for Your MUSC Research Study – MUSC Clinical Trials Registry

A new MUSC Clinical Trials Listing of recruiting studies is coming online in November.  This listing will be easily accessible to the public and searchable by condition and researcher.  Investigators with approved IRB studies are invited to provide a lay summary and contact information to list their studies.  If you fall into this category, you should have received an email in late October with the subject line “New Recruitment Opportunity for Your MUSC Research Study!” with instructions on how to submit this information.  IRB Approval for advertising is not required to list your study on this site.

This large-scale MUSC-wide initiative to promote human subject recruitment is a collaborative effort being rolled out by the SCTR Institute, Institutional Review Board and Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

If you have an IRB-approved study that is currently recruiting and you did not received an email or cannot find it, please contact the SUCCESS Center at 792-8300.
