Understanding Plagiarism is available as online tutorial
A tutorial on Understanding Plagiarism developed by publishing company Prentice Hall is freely available at http://wps.prenhall.com/hss_understand_plagiarism_1/0,6622,427064-,00.html. The introduction to the tutorial makes that point that the academic consequences of plagiarism can be devastating, and it may not even matter if it is unintentional.
The main purposes of the tutorial are to help participants understand what constitutes plagiarism and how to avoid committing it. In addition, tips and examples are provided to demonstrate proper attribution of sources, proper quotation of material, accurate summarization, careful paraphrasing, and how to cite and attribute material from electronic, unconventional and/or unpublished sources.
