Dept of Medicine names Vice Chair and Associate Vice Chair for Research

Jack Feussner, MD, Professor and Chairman of MUSC’s Department of Medicine, recently announced appointment of Peter W.F. Wilson, MD, as Vice Chairman for Research, and Ayad A. Jaffa, PhD, as Associate Vice Chairman for Research. Dr. Wilson joined the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Medical Genetics as a Professor effective October 1, 2003. He was formerly a Professor at Boston University School of Medicine and Director of Laboratories at Framingham Heart Study. Dr. Jaffa earned his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the University of Essex in England, then completed a postdoctoral fellowship here in the Department of Medicine. He also holds appointment as Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Medical Genetics, and his research interests focus on complications of Drs. Wilson and Jaffa have been charged with the responsibility of developing Department of Medicine research programs and providing leadership toward the goal of achieving the 25th percentile on NIH’s annual ranking of total dollars awarded.
