Submit pilot project proposals on addiction issues by July 16 MUSC's Neurobiology of Addiction Research Center (NARC) seeks proposals from MUSC investigators for pilot research. The main goals are to attract young faculty, secondarily to recruit senior investigators, into the field of addiction, and to identify novel technologies that will augment ongoing NARC investigations of the long-term neuroadaptations produced by cocaine and heroin self-administration. NARC is supported by a 5-year grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA 1 P50 DA015369) in partnership with MUSC. Projects may have a clinical or basic science focus. . The purpose of the pilot funding provided by the NARC is to provide an opportunity to collect preliminary data that will ultimately support an R01 application. The NARC has approximately $125,000 available to fund pilot projects related to addiction issues. All submissions will be peer-reviewed; funding will begin on or about September 1. Projects will be funded for a maximum of $25,000 for one year with an opportunity for a one-year competitive renewal. Individuals interested in submitting a pilot project for consideration should submit a brief, 3-5 page description of the project in using the following format:
