Responsible Conduct of Research Summit RCR Summit – June
28-29
Michigan State University is hosting a two-day interactive conference
that features keynote speakers, highlights best practices, and includes
small group roundtables and breakout sessions designed to explore the
future directions of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) education.
The conference is organized to maximize learning from one another and
to encourage informal networking opportunities. Roundtable topics include:
Translating
Research Into Practice — July 12-14 in Washington, DC
Translating Research Into Practice: Advancing Excellence from Discovery
to Delivery will occur July 12-14 conference at the new Washington Convention
Center in Washington, DC. The theme will examine the state-of-the-art
and next horizons in implementing research in clinical practice and
health policy. Sessions will focus on knowledge transfer related to
ephedra, colorectal and prostate cancer screening, and tobacco cessation
interventions for underserved populations. Health care provider organizations,
clinicians, patients, purchasers, researchers, innovators, knowledge
transfer experts and others from across the public and private sectors
will share research, insights, collaborations, and initiatives for moving
knowledge of efficacy and effectiveness into sustained practice change.

Advances in Proteomics in Cancer Research – October 6-10
Conference co-chairs are Richard M. Caprioli of Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine and Samir M. Hanash of the University of Michigan
Medical School. Meeting site is the Sonesta Beach Resort in Key Biscayne,
FL. The deadline for submitting abstracts is September 8. Information

Biomaterials in Regenerative Medicine: The Advent of Combination
Products – October 16-18
The meeting has been organized to emphasize the underlying scientific
and regulatory problems that transcend specific clinical applications
of regenerative medicine. The sessions will focus on the variety of
interactions materials have with drugs, cells, or the host that underlie
all applications. The symposium will be held October 16-18, 2004, immediately
after the annual meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)

AACR International Conference: Frontiers in Cancer Prevention
Research – October 16-20
Topics addressed at this comprehensive symposium on cancer prevention
include genetics, risk modeling, molecular targets for chemoprevention,
clincal prevention trials, behavioral prevention research, and public
policy. The abstract submitter site opens July 12, with a deadline of
August 12 for submitting abstracts and travel award applications. Online
registration is available June 15. Deadline for nominations for the
AACR-Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation Award for Excellence
