NIH
revises rules for re-submitting competing proposals
In May the National Institutes of Health announced a modification to
its policy allowing investigators to revise and resubmit competitive
grant proposals. The revised policy continues to restrict the number
of amended applications but eliminates the two-year restriction on the
window of time. Accordingly, the NIH will still not consider any A3
or igher amendment to an application for extramural support. But, effective
May 7, 2003, there is no longer a time limit for the submission of the
first and second revisions (A1 and A2). This policy applies to all NIH
extramural funding mechanisms.
The official notice of revised policy is posted on-line at grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-03-041.html
