Co-founder Billy Baggett retires from INKLings

At the end of March Billy Baggett turned in his copy for the April issue of INKlings and turned his attention to a stack of books and other reading that have been awaiting the time and attention that only retirement seems to avail. For more than a dozen years, Dr. Baggett has been scanning the Federal Register, scouring the NIH Guide, and scrutinizing a variety of print and electronic bulletins to mine an array of funding opportunities to pique the diverse interests of the whole array of investigators and research trainees at MUSC on a monthly basis.

Billy co-founded this publication with Robbie Lee of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (who christened the monthly newsletter Research INKLings) and Trisha Addison of the Office of Research Development. While the effort has evolved with MUSC’s growth in research activity and morphed from print medium and campus mail to an all-electronic format, Billy’s dedication to providing a regular smorgasbord of ideas and opportunities remained constant.

We are all indebted to Billy Baggett. In honor of his contributions to INKlings and to research development at MUSC, we dedicate this issue to him.
