HHS submits implementation plan for government-wide electronic grants management On May 18, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) submitted an implementation plan to pilot test the Federal Commons, a government-wide electronic grants management system to give extramural clients access to a Web-based gateway and a searchable synopsis of grant programs, funding opportunities, and proposal/award status that will be shared by all federal granting agencies. Acting as lead agency, HHS submitted a plan to implement a pilot module for electronic data interchange by November, 2001. The intent is to provide a common research grant application, administration and reporting system for the 26 federal R&D agencies involved in development of the Federal Commons. This site will enable users to check the status of grant application proposals. The plan is available on the US Chief Financial Officers Council web site at http://www.financenet.gov/fed/cfo/grants/grants.htm. Source: Washington Fax, May 29, 2001
