Investigators should start using new F&A (indirect cost) rate and new fringe benefits rates

MUSC recently negotiated an increase in the Facilities & Administrative (F&A, also called Indirect Cost or IDC) rate of 47.5% for federally sponsored research and received approval to use the following composite fringe benefit rates for charging personnel costs to research and sponsored projects effective July 1, 2008:

Faculty and Staff 27.5%,
Post Doctoral Scholars/Temporary Employees 21.8%
Student/Temporaries (with limited benefits) 3.2%

The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) encourages all those involved with grant budget preparations at MUSC to begin using the new rates for all proposals with an anticipated start on or after 07/01/08.
