Postdocs can apply for stipend support and mentored teaching experience by April 30 The South Carolina EPSCoR/IDeA Program offers postdoctoral researchers in SC the opportunity to have a substantial mentored teaching experience in conjunction with their research training. The basic premise of the Postdoctoral Academic Career Development (PACD) Program is that the fundamentals of effective teaching are directly applicable to the conduct of research. The goals are to (1) provide teaching experience, increase research competitiveness, and expand career opportunities for the postdoctoral scholar as they serve as role models for students, and (2) promote curricular development in science and mathematics departments at predominately undergraduate institutions (PUIs) in South Carolina. In addition to gaining teaching experience in an undergraduate setting, PACD scholars receive one year of support at current NRSA stipend levels plus fringe benefits. The South Carolina EPSCoR/IDeA web site has a detailed description at: http://www.scepscoridea.org/Funding/PACD.html. Source: Email announcement, March 31, 2008
