AAMC
publication may assist in clinical trial contract negotiations
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMA) has published a
discussion document to aid academic institutions as they enter into
clinical trial contracts with pharmaceutical companies. While there
is no single correct way to approach a contract negotiation, "Clinical
Trial Contracts: A Discussion of Four Selected Provisions,"
is meant to provide researchers, administrators, lawyers, and others
with relevant information intended to make the process easier.
This free publication focuses on four contract areas: intellectual property,
publication rights, medical care for research participants, and indemnification.
For each of these four areas the authors provide explanations of academic
and industry perspectives, checklists of topics that should be addressed
by every contract, and sample contract language.
