National Center for Research Resources seeks comment on strategic plan

The National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) of the National Institutes of Health is inviting public comment on the development of its new strategic plan. Many assets for biomedical research, including general clinical research centers, biotechnology centers, animal research facilities, shared instrumentation grants, and other resources, are made possible through NCRR programs. Investigators and their institutions are encouraged to comment on the following questions:

  • What are the most important research trend(s) that will drive biomedical research?
  • What research resources and technologies will be critical in addressing these trend(s) and meeting biomedical investigators' needs?
  • What strategies will eliminate barriers to progress and enhance access to research resources and technologies?

The comments will help NCRR update its 1998 - 2003 strategic plan entitled "NCRR: A Catalyst for Discovery." The recommendation form is located at www.ncrr.nih.gov/sprecommend.asp.  NCRR is also seeking recommendations for a candidate to serve on a panel for the planning process. Responses to the NCRR must be received by May 15.
