NIH released a draft statement on sharing research data

 

On March 1, 2002, NIH released a draft statement on sharing research data.  This draft is open for public comment.  This new statement concerns NIH views and support of the timely release and sharing of final research data from NIH-supported studies. Data sharing is an essential component of research progress that promotes helpful dialogue and new research.  The new statement will be finalized by August 1, 2002 with a proposed effective date of January 1, 2003.  At which time, investigators applying for funding will be expected to include a plan for data sharing or state why data sharing will not be possible.  To see the draft, visit the following website: http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/policy/data_sharing/index.htm
