MUSC Library arranges free trial of Scopus citation database all during March

The MUSC Library has arranged for all members of the MUSC community to have a one-month free trial of Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources.  Access is limited to on-campus IP addresses or equivalent.  The free trial expires March 31.

Updated daily, Scopus offers:

  • 15,000 peer-reviewed journals from more than 4,000 publishers
  • more than 1000 Open Access journals
  • 500 conference proceedings
  • more than 600 trade publications
  • 33 million abstracts
  • results from 386 million scientific web pages

Scopus is widely recognized for its Citation Indexing features, e.g., who has cited whom, how many times. It also calculates the Hirsch Index number, a measure of how much influence a paper or author has on the scientific community.

The Library staff encourages all MUSC members to explore Scopus during March and compare it to the Web of Science’s Science Citation Index, which is available through the Reference Desk in the Library.  For more information, contact Teri Lynn Herbert, MS, MLIS, MUSC Library Public Services and Education, 792-1370.
