NIH Extramural Data Book can be informative to investigators

The Office of Extramural Research of the National Institutes of Health has posted a new resource called the NIH Extramural Data Book. The "book" is actually a series of more than 160 Powerpoint slides with the underlying data available by double-clicking the various graphs and charts from Fiscal Year 2007. The data focuses on the NIH budget, RPGs, centers, R01s, research grants by mechanism, targeted research, first-time investigators, training and fellowship trends, career development trends, modular grants, and women in research.
