MUSC’s Ashley River Tower facility opened for patient care in February 2008. It is the first phase of a long-term initiative to construct an entirely new comprehensive teaching and referral hospital on the west side of campus at 25 Doughty Street. This facility continues MUSC’s long history of providing excellence in patient care. Focusing on Heart & Vascular Disease and Digestive Disease, Ashley River Tower offers the latest technologies and top physicians to address the increased incidence of cardiovascular and digestive diseases among the growing population of South Carolina and the region. This state-of-the-art building has 156 licensed beds, an intensive care unit, operating rooms, laboratories, interventional radiology and endoscopy suites, and a specialized chest pain center. The hospital is designed to accommodate the most modern medical equipment available and to offer patients and their families the highest quality of care in a safe, comfortable and healing environment.
